Heating advice
Good questions. Warmer homes.
A little clarity before you choose. Find answers to the questions that make all the difference.
How do I choose the right heat output?
Start with your room dimensions, insulation and glazing. These affect the heat output you need, usually shown in watts or BTU/h. Compare radiator outputs at the same temperature rating and check that they suit your heating system.
Share your room details with our team for help narrowing down the options.
Should I choose a vertical or horizontal radiator?
A vertical radiator can make the most of a narrow wall, while a horizontal design often suits the space beneath a window. Measure the available wall area and allow for valves, pipework and the clearances specified by the manufacturer.
Choose a model with the right heat output as well as the right proportions for your room.
What is the difference between central heating, electric and dual fuel?
A central heating radiator uses hot water from your heating system. An electric model heats independently using electricity. A compatible dual-fuel towel rail combines a central heating connection with an electric element.
Check the specification of the individual model and ask your installer which option suits your home.
Can a heated towel rail warm the whole bathroom?
It depends on the bathroom heating requirement and the towel rail output. A towel rail may provide enough heat for some rooms, while others need an additional heat source. Covering a rail with towels can also reduce the warmth reaching the room.
Compare the room heating requirement with the model output before choosing.
Are radiator valves and accessories included?
What is included varies by product. Check the product description before ordering, including whether valves or an electric element are supplied separately.
The right valve type depends on the radiator connections and your pipework. Our team can help you check compatibility.
What should I check before installation?
Confirm dimensions, wall suitability, pipe centres, heating-system compatibility and the required clearances. Ask a qualified installer to check your planned position and connections.
Electric models and elements should be installed by a suitably qualified professional in line with the manufacturer instructions.
